2016
During October 2016, 
Halloween Candy was hidden on the maps and did not appear until you walked over them. Once you acquired all of the candy you were able to trade them in for the event Pokémon.

2017
During October 2017, the Evalan Maze was open to the public for the first time to kick-start the 2017 Halloween Event, while simultaneously testing out the new maze feature.
The Mazes were filled with Halloween candy and 
Halloween Lollipops, these could be used to buy various Consumable Items in the Halloween Shop.
If you obtained enough Halloween Lollipops, you could also purchase two eggs from the Halloween Shop, which on October 31st, would hatch into:
